Edward Setser MD FACS

As a Board Certified Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon, Dr. Edward Setser offers his patients the minimally invasive outpatient alternative treatment for varicose vein relief. Dr. Setser performs the EVLT (endovenous laser treatment) in a private office environment utilizing only local anesthesia. This procedure takes less than one hour, no scarring, little or no pain, and normal activities are resumed the same day. He also provides patients the additional treatment options of outpatient micro-phlebectomy and sclerotherapy for treatment of varicose veins and spider veins.

Dr. Setser is a graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina with a BA in Psychology and a graduate of East Carolina University with his MD degree. His internship and residency was completed at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Georgia (1985-1990) and Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas (1990-1992). During his military service, Dr. Setser was Chief of Cardiac Surgery Services at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Assistant Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of Cardiothoracic ICU at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He was awarded the Army Commendation medal in 1993. Certifications include American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Current memberships are Society of Thoracic Surgery, Fellow American College of Surgeons, and American College of Phlebology.

Dr. Setser has been a member of the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Team at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia since 1996. He is also the co-director of The Regional Heart Center at St. Mary's. Dr. Setser has developed a strong support staff for both his office and surgical practices; combined, this experience is greater than 40 years. As an established, experienced, and respected surgical practice in the Tri-State Area, our team is committed to excellence in care of our patients. We look forward to continuing to provide innovative treatment options to our community in the years ahead.
